Ok, I hear both of you and can respect that Garcia seems to show a lot of jazz influence. I sure like my jazz, but similar to my comments above I like it when the "wandering" is toned down a little - maybe Coltrane's "Stellar Regions" is a good example. I picked that album up at the end of high school and have listened to it no more than 4 or 5 times since then. He's all over the map on that album. :)

After reading your comments, I'm thinking it's a taste thing and not so much an age thing. Regardless, I do like my GD. I just tend to stay away from the Spacy stuff where I have to ask "what song were they playing when this started?"

Wow - funny how you mention Coltrane's Stellar Regions!! I completely understand what you are saying. I also picked that up and have only listened to it 2 or 3 times. Kinda disjointed (well, not kinda). That was a great example of what you are trying to convey. For Coltrane, it is a very disappointing disc. And I totally agree that it is a taste thing - i was just mentioning my age because i feel as old as dirt :) peace, and jam on.... long live Kimock :)
